Congratulations to Joe Biden on being the oldest US president to ever be sworn in, it raises an important question — is this the best candidate the Democratic party could produce to lead the country? If he successfully finishes his 4 year term he would be close to 82 years old.
Rewind to 2009 with the young and dynamic POTUS 44 who wooed everyone with his oratory skills, though more seen on late night talk shows than the political arena. The enigma that is Barack Hussein Obama named after his Kenyan Father, the media darling served 2 successful terms in office but ended his tenure by handing over the office to the Republican Party under the leadership of Donald J. Trump rather than the highly sensationalized Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Fast forward to 2021, The Biden- Harris inauguration was billed to be the biggest celebration of any American President till date. It was carefully planned to be politically correct featuring Latino, Black and white artists to avoid any cultural issues. However, visibly missing from the roster were any Asian-American artists, maybe because the latter only makes up around 5.7% of the total population? So in this case, Kamala Harris, who came out and identified as British Jamaican — Indian in the final stages of the electoral race did not have any artistic representation at the event. We wonder if she even cares about it now that she landed her dream job…
Also missing from the music A-List ‘Celebrities’ are artists that represent young America. Let’s take a look at some of the singers who performed at the Inauguration and the Celebrate America event shall we?
J. Lo, who is famous for her fabulous figure and dancing rather than acting or singing belted out ‘America the beautiful’ and ‘This land is your land’. In her defense, though at 51 years of age, she looked stunning compared to 34 year old Lady Gaga, who revealed an embarrassing double chin that stole the attention from her golden microphone, she sang ‘Star spangled banner’.
The best that 71 year old Bruce Springsteen could do was dig up a song from 1999 to sing, this is the sad result of an artist who puts hate politics over musical talent — he did organize an Anti Bush’ music festival back in the day.
The lockdown has not been kind to 52 year old Jon Bon Jovi as his once Rock n Roll hairdo is now as white as Santa Claus. Dave Grohl, who shot to fame after the death of Kurt Cobain and the demise of the legendary band ‘Nirvana’ choose a 19 year old song to celebrate this event not before torturing online viewers to listen to his ‘speech’ first.
Tom Hanks, the poster boy for Covid 19 hosted the event “This day is about witnessing the permanence of our American ideal,” he rambled ambiguously like he was acting out a scene from the movie ‘Forrest Gump’
Where were the current music stars like Billie Eilish (appeared with Harris on a campaign video), Cardi B (interviews Biden on a campaign video), Taylor swift, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande or Post Malone to name a few? These artists represent the modern American music scene and they also swear allegiance to the democratic party. Did they turn down the invite to play at these events or was Joe Biden’s accountant in charge of booking talent for the show?
I guess like the dominion voting system we’ll never know — C’mon man!
